How to Make a Beaded Jewelry Necklace
How to Make a Beaded Jewelry Necklace

Making jewelery for the purpose of decoration is one of the oldest practices in the United States. In fact, the native Americans used to make beaded jewelry and sell their creations to other tribes so that they would have money to survive. This is one of the trades that never seems to die in fact, I know people who currently use this as a way of making a living. Where there is a market there is a way and they have used this to their advantage by taking the creations that they make at home and brining them into a store setting in order to make money. Making jewelery is one of the easiest things you can and the easiest of these is the creation of beaded necklaces. These are made by local merchants and purchased as a means of wearing your pride on your sleeve. This includes pride of your country, heritage or ethnicity and they can be made to have symbolism for any and all of these purposes. If you would like to make these products you can do so easily be taking the following steps: 1 Get a shoelace from the dollar store, you should look for one which has a simple black color because they tend to blend the best. You do not want the thick version of the laces because they will be hard to use for these purposes. Try to get a lace that it thin because it will make the process a lot easier on you in the long run.

2 Purchase some beads in a small package from any beauty store, you can get a mixed package if they have one. If they do not then you should buy one package for each color that you would like to put on the necklace. You want to use enough beads to pack them on so there is no space left in between the beads that can be seen.

4 Once this is done you will find the shoelace is pretty heavy, you want to life it up and tie it around your neck by making a knot that will leave the shoelace ends sticking out. You should then cut the shoelace ends off with a scissor and you will be left with your beautiful beaded necklace.

Published by Rich Jones

View profile

Valentines Day Heart Clay Bead NecklaceI love making jewelry. How to Cut Costs in the Jewelry Business
How to Cut Costs in the Jewelry Business

Yesterday, I published the Lepidolite Slideshow on AC. Several commenters liked the neck that displayed my jeweled creations. My old college buddy, Vivian, left a comment that started the strand. Nice neck, she said. I appreciate the fine comments and now reveal that that is indeed my very own neck showing my very own handcrafted jewelry. Ta daa! Finished jewelry display

Now I will tell you that my neck serves very well as a jewelry display. Because my head came along with this convenient attachment, I can use my own neck instead of buying those expensive black velvet ones. Jewelry supply houses will sell you anything from soup to nuts to supply you with every possible jewelry business need, including necklace displays. The trouble with them? It costs an arm and a leg for a neck!So I put my own neck to work, especially for a proper fit for the necklace design. Womens necks were created for necklaces besides being functional for holding up our heads. Furthermore, I design my jewelry for real necks, not cardboard simulations. Have you noticed how necklaces come alive when worn on a real womans neck? Mine is available 24/7 and works with me without complaints or pay. It is a natural resource available for use in completing my designs. A necklace is not finished until I try it on at the end.

Next up is the photo shoot. The finished product must be documented. How do I photograph my own neck, wearing my own jewelry, with my own camera? Another clever business cost saving happens here: I use an in house photographer, my husband! Now, understand, my husband would rather be calculating the orbits of electrons than photographing my jewelry. The photo session must be approached with a plan for his approval. The session must be scheduled days in advance so that he can mentally prepare for the mundane manual work. But he takes great photos for how much he hates the job. And his only remuneration from me is a smile at dinner.

Tools on hand

But back to the neck. It comes in handy while fabricating a necklace design. As you may know, necklaces come in lengths. Sixteen inches is choker length for a lady. Eighteen inches is standard. I do it, but I hate to measure. My neck serves as a measuring device. How about that for built in tools?

Other low cost measures

Okay, okay, I admit having a ruler. I use it to measure the things that need precise measurements, like the lengths of silver wire for making jewelry. Okay, okay, I admit having stolen the ruler from high school. Healing and Black Onyx Jewelry
Healing and Black Onyx Jewelry

Question: How is Black Onyx Used in Feng Shui?

I am curious about the use of black colour stones in feng shui, particularly the use of black onyx and black obsidian. Can you please explain the difference between these two stones, as well as how black onyx is used in feng shui? Thank you!

Answer: Black colour stones are usually considered very protective and grounding. These protective qualities are especially expressed in black tourmaline, black onyx and black obsidian. Another stone with a presence of metallic black colour hematite is also used for its protective and grounding energies.

While it is easy to differentiate black onyx from hematite, for example, it is not so easy when it comes to easily distinguish black onyx from black tourmaline or black obsidian in the polished form.

If you are open to using your intuition while attuning to crystals and stones the best way to start your exploration! you can feel the difference between black onyx and black obsidian.

While the two stones might look quite similar, their energies are quite distinct.

The energy of black obsidian has an almost revolutionary quality to it; it can come fast and furious and leave one overwhelmed. It can also come in a soft, gentle way, but with the same intensity of information nevertheless. The identity of black obsidian is due to its formation; black obsidian is volcanic lava quickly cooled by contact with earth or water. There was not enough time for its matter to crystallize, which explains the powerful energy of raw truth, urgency and strong purging emotionally purging abilities of this stone.

Black onyx, on the other hand, has a slow, grounding and stable frequency to it. It is a crystal that took its time in being formed. The gift of black onyx is the energy of strong support, stamina and determination to help one persevere. It will teach the wearer to rely on his or her own powers and trust their inner voice.

Black obsidian has a wild, no limits no boundaries quality of energy to it, while black onyx is a slow down and persevere on your path teacher. Both qualities are very important to the human journey, and both stones can be great allies at different points in time.

Another way to distinguish the two stones is their weight black onyx is usually heavier than black obsidian. Onyx in all its colours, be it black, blue, yellow or red can have various band patterns on it, while obsidian does not have bands.

Feng shui wise, the strong, supportive and stable energy of black onyx is used in:

Money Wealth Amulets, such as pi yao, wu lou Chinese gourd, three legged frog, etc.

Various Zodiac Animals, such as the dragon, the ox, etc.

Protective Feng Shui Cures, such as dzi beads amulets and bracelets, and fu dogs black onyx carvings by the front door.

Of course, wearing jewelry is one of the best ways to benefit from the energy of crystals and stones, and black onyx jewelry is no exception!

Read my informative review and learn all about this product! Price and Availability

Goddards Jewelry Cleaner is available at Kroger, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Rice Epicurean Markets. I paid around $6.00 for a 6 fluid ounce jar. I like the fact that it contains no ammonia. This product is described on the jar as being Safe for all precious metals and stones. Lift the basket up and out of the cleaning solution and retrieve your jewelry. Theres a small brush included in the jar you can use to clean off embedded dirt and grime. Then, rinse your jewelry off with clean water and carefully dry each piece with a soft, clean cloth. Thats all there is to it!

If you have a piece of jewelry that is too big to fit in the basket, simply pour some Goddards Jewelry Cleaner into a bowl thats large enough to accommodate it. Favorable Outlook for Rofin
Favorable Outlook for Rofin

Rofin Sinar RSTI develops carbon dioxide CO2, solid state, and diode lasers for customers in the machine tool 36% of fiscal 2007 sales, semiconductor and electronics 23%, and automotive 8% industries. Other markets include medical devices, consumer goods, packaging, aerospace and defense, jewelry, and research institutions.

In fiscal 2007, 55% of revenues came from Europe, 23% from North America, and 22% from Asia. The Macro segment generated 43% of fiscal 2007 sales. It makes CO 2 lasers with up to 8kW of output, solid state lasers with 350W 4 kW of output, and diode lasers with 10W 3.6kW of output. High power lasers cut and weld metal. Lower power lasers are used for soldering, surface treatment, and welding plastics.

The Marking/Micro segment accounted for 48% of sales. Marking lasers produce just 2 120W of power. They mark integrated circuits, electronic components, smart cards, automobile labels and components, and packaging products. Micro lasers range from 1W 1kW of power. They are used for fine cutting, spot welding, and micro structuring medical and dental equipment, electronics, and jewelry. Micro lasers are also included in perforating systems for easy tear products, foils for food packaging, and cigarette paper.

The Components segment produced the remaining 9% of sales. It offers power supplies, fiber and optics technology, and laser diodes. RSTI recently augmented this segment with the December acquisition of Nufern. Demand is strong because laser technology offers a non contact, high speed, and low cost alternative to traditional mechanical tools. RSTIs geographic reach has also contributed to its growth. Revenues from Europe and Asia grew 31% and 11%, respectively, in fiscal 2007.

These gains offset weakness in North America, which saw an 11% decline. Fiscal Q1 results reflected similar trends. Fiscal Q1 net revenues jumped 20.5% year over year to $134.7 million. Favorable foreign exchange produced half the gain. Macro revenues jumped 38.4% to $61.2 million. Marking/Micro revenues grew 10.1% to $63.4 million. Components sales climbed 1.2% to $10.1 million. The gross profit margin improved 250 basis points to 43.55% thanks to a more favorable product mix and improved productivity. The operating profit margin grew 233 basis points to 18.51%. Net income jumped 47% to $16.9 million or 53 cents per share. RSTI booked $157.9 million worth of orders during the quarter.

Of course, unexpected cutbacks on capital expenditures would have a detrimental impact on business. RSTI is particularly exposed to the machine tool, and semiconductor and electronics industries. Nonetheless, it should enjoy continued growth as it capitalizes on the expanding Chinese economy. It is constructing laser diode and laser marker facilities in China, which should come on line later this year, and it is also in negotiations to acquire a Chinese high power laser manufacturer.

The short term outlook is also favorable. RSTI has a healthy backlog, a predictable stream of service and spare parts revenues, and will receive incremental contributions from the Nufern acquisition. results may surprise on the upside thanks to the accelerated depreciation provision in the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. manages to avoid a prolonged recession.

Etsy Interview with Mistys Beadworks
Etsy Interview with Mistys Beadworks

First off, tell me a little bit about yourself. Hi, my name is Misty. I live in San Diego, California with my husband, and the best cat on the planet. I have lived here almost my entire life, and I love it, cant even imagine dealing with a cold, snowy climate! My Etsy shop is called Mistys Beadworks . I work full time as a medical billing representative, so I dont have nearly as much time as I would like to spend making jewelry, it is my hobby and my passion! I had dabbled in other crafty hobbies in the past, but nothing got my creative juices flowing like designing and making jewelry does.

How and when did you start making jewelry and your other items?

I started making jewelry about 4 years ago. Demand in Flux
Demand in Flux

B y Julian Murdoch

Earlier today, the World Gold Council released its quarterly Gold Demand Trends report, the go to source for industry data on consumption patterns for the yellow metal. And the numbers confirm what many market watchers have suspected for months: 2010 was a year of superlatives.

In 2010, total worldwide gold demand surged to 3812.2 tonnes a 10 year high and a nine percent rise compared with 2009 levels. That increase may sound slight, until you consider the dollar value difference: With the average London PM fix in 2010 a record $1224.50/oz 2009 averaged only $972.30/oz, the total worth of gold market demand soared to $150 billion. Thats 38 percent over 2009.

The report breaks out the demand segment by segment, offering several reasons for 2010s record demand levels:

Tonne by tonne, total gold demand for 2010 notched only slightly higher than 2008 levels. But dollar for dollar, the value of that demand was much higher even when the actual physical quantity remained smaller than 2008 amounts. Case in point: jewelry.

Emerging Demand for JewelryA full 2060 tonnes or 54 percent of 2010 gold demand went to jewelry, a 17 percent rise over 2009. India emerged as the key jewelry buyer: Consumers in the traditionally gold hungry country accounted for a staggering 745.7 tonnes, or 36 percent of global demand.

But sheer numbers alone dont make India the main story here the growth rate of that demand is equally important.

Typically, Indias fourth quarter tends to reflect higher jewelry sales due to the Diwali festival, traditionally the period of largest annual gold consumption period in the country. But in Q4 2010, Indian jewelry demand swelled 69 percent over Q4 2009 levels.

This surging demand is especially surprising given golds high price; Indian gold buyers are generally quite price sensitive. But as the World Gold Council suggests, the rise in Indian jewelry demand in Q4 2010 might actually be because of the metals high price, not despite it:

Aside from festival related purchases, the main motivation behind jewellery demand was the widespread expectation among Indian consumers of yet higher gold prices. Indian consumers appeared almost universally to expect that the local gold price was likely to continue rising, and this belief fueled demand, further highlighting the strength of the investment component of gold jewellery demand in India.

Jewelry demand also rose elsewhere in the emerging markets. China, the worlds second largest consumer of gold after India, bought 428 tonnes in 2010 a 14 percent rise compared with 2009. Together, these two countries account for 56 percent of world jewelry demand.

Growing Appetite For Bars and CoinsAs a point of contrast, lets compare growth in physical investment bars, coins and so on; unlike jewelry, actual tonnage into bars and coins has risen a fair bit since 2008.

Bullion demand rose 34 percent year over year, even though total investment demand which includes ETFs as well as bars and coins actually shrunk 2 percent compared with 2009. And while Indian consumers upped their purchases of bars and coins by 60 percent, China in fact exhibited the largest jump in physical demand, with a 70 percent spike over 2009 levels.

Granted, the 179.9 tonnes of bullion consumers in China acquired in 2010 remains much smaller than the sum of their jewelry purchases. But with the launch of several new products in the country allowing buyers to access physical gold for the first time, expect this segment to only grow in the future. and European investors love their ETFs. Or, at least, they used to.

Compared with 2009s record gold ETF inflows, 2010 fund investment looks positively anemic, with a 45 percent drop in demand. Quarter to quarter comparisons look even worse, with Q4 2010s measly 3.6 tonnes of ETF demand ranking 91 percent lower than that in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Two words explain the difference: profit taking. With such high gold prices, many ETF investors decided to liquidate their holdings at the perceived top, and bank their returns while they were still ahead. In some ways, this suggests an evolution in the way investors think about gold ETFs, implying many investors use these funds more as trading vehicles than as long term stores of value as they do physical.

Still, even with such huge drops in ETF demand compared with 2009, gold funds still posted their second strongest year on record in 2010 due almost entirely to a strong second quarter. Worldwide, ETFs soaked up 338.0 tonnes of gold in 2010, worth $13.3 billion.

Electronics Demand ReboundsGrowth could also be found in technology and industrial demand, which typically includes electronics, dental applications and other assorted industrial demand. In 2010, tech sector demand grew 12 percent to reach 419.6 tonnes.

Here the strongest growth came from electronics, where gold is used in semiconductor devices and high end cables. Borne on the back of the fledgling economic recovery, electronics demand throughout 2010 had almost rebounded to pre 2008 levels. But a marked slowdown in the fourth quarter prevented a stronger annual showing, as consumer confidence eroded and worldwide economic concerns continued. Whats more, the high gold price encouraged industrial consumers to use substitutions wherever possible. Thus, Q4 2010 demand remained only slightly above that seen in 4Q 2009.

What about dentistry? Demand continues to drop, as technological advances and high prices continue to discourage the use of gold for dental applications. Indeed, the days of gold fillings is drawing to a close for everyone but rappers.

Central Bank BuyingGenerally speaking, golds supply story remains mostly unchanged, except for one major development: Central banks, which for more than 20 years sold off gold from their reserves, became net buyers of the metal in 2010.

Thus, instead of boosting the worlds gold supply, central banks now act as a drain on it. The WGC details in depth the reasons behind the central banks decisions, but fundamentally, its simple: Countries without existing large gold repositories are stockpiling in order to stabilize their economies, while countries with existing stores want to retain them for the same reason. Everyone wants gold.

The Big PictureThus the WGCs 2010 scorecard paints the picture of a gold market in flux. The dramatic drop in ETF demand, combined with the boost in physical purchases and new hoarding by central banks, suggests a sea change in marketplace dynamics is at work.

Central banks and physical investors alike apparently remain price insensitive, buying almost without regard to price, if it suits their economic plan. ETF investors, however, have shown themselves fickle. Funds make it enormously easy for people to not just own, but trade gold, picking entry and exit points with agility that defies the stick the coins in the mattress stereotype.

Cant Figure Out Diamond Carats
Cant Figure Out Diamond Carats

Diamonds are known and loved for their beauty and brilliance. They are also the hardest stones on the planet and are equally valued for their role in jewelry and their many uses in manufacturing. As such, diamonds dont come cheap, which explains why for many people, buying a diamond takes time and consideration. If youre wondering how much you can afford in terms of diamond ring carats, here are tips you can use to guide you on your purchase.

Understanding how diamonds are cut and sold

The term carat actually refers to the weight of the stone, whether its been cut or is still in its raw state. Among jewelry makers and buyers, the correct term used is carat weight. When you go out to a jewelry store or browse diamond rings online, you will encounter this word. What it means is quite simply, the weight of the stone.

You might probably think that a diamond ring with say, 2 carats is more valuable than a ring with 1 carat. In general, this is true. However, there are other factors that determine the final value and price of the diamond ring that will ultimately help you decide whether or not you can afford the ring.

Of course, there is also the matter of setting. Diamond rings are generally set in gold, white gold or platinum. The type and quality of the precious metal used will also add to the price of the diamond ring. Platinum, for example, is more expensive than white gold. So if youre asking how much diamond ring you can afford in terms of carats, you might also want to consider how much setting in terms of carats you are willing to pay for.

In general, diamond ring settings may be made with 10 to 18 carats precious metal. The more expensive ones may also use as much as 22 carats. Remember that the higher the carats of the setting, the higher the price of the diamond ring. If youre choosing between a diamond ring set in 14 carats and one set in 18 carats, the price difference can range from about $200 to $250.

A diamond ring carat usually begins at .25 or 1/4 carat, although youll probably find stones that are less than this. Set in 10 carat gold, this much stone will cost from about $125 to around $250. In 14 carat gold setting, the price could go up to about $500. A half carat diamond set in 18 carat gold or platinum could go as high as $1000. A one carat diamond

So how much diamond ring in carats can you afford? That really depends on what you want to buy and how much you can afford. Do not buy a 4 carat diamond ring you dont like just because you want to show off. In the end, it may not hold as much value for you. Furthermore, it may or may not turn out to be a good investment. Use the information you have learned and of course, your good judgment.

and Portable Catholic Gifts
and Portable Catholic Gifts

The First Amendment ensures our freedom to practice our Catholicism. Sadly, the government has recently made steps discouraging the public practice of our faith. The word God or anything religious in nature are being removed from government properties like, the recent debate on the Pledge of Allegiance and displaying the Ten Commandments at Courthouses. It is frowned on and a cause of controversy for a person to express their religion at work or in a place shared with the public: the separation of church and state taken to an extreme.

There are many Bible verses and quotes from the Catholic Churchs great minds that support both an external, almost brazen expression of our Catholicism despite persecution: the example of Christ and His martyrs, for example, should be role models for those facing chastisement and condemnation and, even death for publicly professing their beliefs. On the other hand, Christ did also teach a more private, internalized form of spirituality, as heard in His Sermon on the Mount Matthew 6:1 8, 16 18: that we should do things not for others to see, not to boast our faith, but to practice it for Gods eyes only.

What it amounts to is summed up in Ecclesiastes: there is a time to stand and identify oneself as a Catholic and, there is a time to live it quietly in the heart. God knows the true intention behind the act. So for those moments when we need to be a little more discreet about our Devotions, here are some suggested items that will help transform us into covert Catholics.

Bringing out the five decade Rosary to pray on the bus during ones morning commute or lunch break may be discomforting to some we may also own a Rosary that is expensive or priceless, an heirloom or item of sentimental value maybe, that we would rather not bring with us daily. An affordable alternative would be a Chaplet Rosary or Finger Rosary, which usually has a crucifix or cross and a decade of beads. They fit in the hand and are portable in a pocket or purse, and can be used concealed in the palm and fingers. The Irish Penal Rosary is a single decade Rosary used in Ireland when it was illegal to practice Catholicism; a great, symbolic item for those persecuted for their faith.

Another way to count those decades other than on the fingers is to get a Sterling Silver Rosary Ring. This item doubles as a classy piece of jewelry that is worn as a reminder to pray while serving as a means of keeping track of the prayers. The Gold Rosary Coin is a durable token that can easily be carried and hidden as well. The modern age has also given us another option: purchase and upload the Rosary on CD to listen to the Rosary on an iPod or mp3 player.

Pocket Sized Bibles and Prayer Books, The Bible on CD

There are several editions of Bibles and Prayer Books that one can easily carry in a pocket, bag, backpack, briefcase, or purse. These resources on ones person helps promote healthy and devout Christian living as the Word of God is a readily accessible reference when encountering lifes challenges. These pocket size items carry an immeasurable wealth of wisdom and spiritual comfort and aid. A great way to familiarize oneself with Sacred Scripture is to play it on CD in ones car on the daily commute or long trips, or, upload it to an iPod or mp3 player for private listening.

For over 16 years, Catholic Books and Gifts has served Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties. Their wide selection of books cover many titles under apologetics, Church history, catechisms, saint biographies, children and young adult, and an assortment of bibles to suit the needs of every reader. Sacramentals as rosaries, crucifixes, patron saint and miraculous medals, scapulars and statues make great gifts for Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, Weddings and other special occasions.

An Undiscovered Gem BIDZ
An Undiscovered Gem BIDZ

The Company offers its products through a continuous live format, featuring no reserve auctions, a $1 minimum opening bid, and a unique 15 second auction extension period that allows its auctions to continue until all bids are received. The majority of its auctions are short term, often lasting less than one hour, providing immediate gratification to the customers and encouraging frequent visits and active viewing of our website. BIDZ product inventory includes gold, platinum, and silver jewelry set with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and other precious and semi precious stones; and watches. The Company offers to sell products through their website. In 2006, BIDZ sold over 2.9 million items at an average price of $139. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the company has approximately 200 employees. Key Highlights Fragmented market with top 10 jewelry stores controlling less than 20% of the domestic market. The BIDZ model provides a unique customer experience and value proposition. Leading online jewelry retailer ranked second by Hitwise behind QVC in the online jewelry category. BIDZ ranked 85th in the Internet Retailer Top 500 rankings and at par with Blue Nile on customer satisfaction rankings as recently measured by Foresee Results. BIDZ more than doubled operating profit in 2006 and, with continued good merchandising and effective marketing, should lift sales by about 33% this year, and lift operating profit by 66% this year. The company says it attracted 240,969 new buyers in 2006, up 50% from the year before. International markets represent an untapped opportunity for BIDZ, and the Company intends to create a strong presence in English speaking countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand, and introducing foreign language versions of its website for certain international markets. Unique Value Proposition to the Customer BIDZ auction process differs from other online and offline auctions in several important ways.

Auctions continue until bidding ends much like a process at a traditional auction house. The auction continues for an additional fifteen seconds after the last bid. Prices determined by customer Auctions start at $1 no reserve, assuring buyer driven pricing and consumer savings. Approximately 15% of items are sold at a loss, so the remaining 85% sell above cost for BIDZ such that the Company is able to generate a healthy margin as evidenced by a 23.7% gross margin for FY 2006 Customers not committed to their bids Winners are not held to their bids and not penalized if they fail to close the purchase. Encourage product returns if not satisfied with product As a result of its returns policy BIDZ aims at encouraging buyer confidence and provides for a stress free shopping experience. Only 4% of items were returned in Q1, 2007. Broad product selection BIDZ has over 50,000 SKUs in inventory Value Proposition to Suppliers BIDZ purchases closeout inventory directly from manufacturers and liquidators. The Company also closely monitors its sales trends to assess consumer demand for certain jewelry styles and categories and purchases such non closeout inventory directly from manufacturers. The Companys sourcing model provides an alternative liquidation channel for manufacturers, for which disposal of closeout inventory represents a significant challenge. BIDZ has the flexibility to purchase a variety of lot sizes, and its centralized warehouse and fulfillment center enables suppliers to ship their products to a single location, easing the burden on their infrastructures.

Sourcing Model Since most moderate price jewelry is sold promotionally and promotionally priced to yield around a 50% gross margin to the retailer, original retail prices are commonly multiples of normal wholesale. If an item does not sell, it may be returned to the vendor who now faces a choice, either to return the goods to the factory usually offshore to be melted and turned into something else in which case the retrievable yield is the manufacturers gross profit, less the cost of processing and shipping or, alternatively, to resell the item as a closeout or less likely, since it didnt sell, to another retailer. It is usually to the manufacturers advantage to liquidate the item as a closeout, if possible, and anything north of that gross profit is desirable. Thus, it is common for BIDZ to acquire merchandise below, sometimes well below, the normal wholesale price and sometimes, below the intrinsic value of their materials.

Industry Overview $160 billion global jewelry market; $57 billion US market. Highly fragmented market with Top 10 retailers representing Online jewelry sales were 3.9 percent of total industry sales. Online jewelry market expected to grow between 12 15% for the next few years. jewelers have an online presence, only 25 percent engage in online commerce, according to InStore magazine April 2007. The average online ticket appears to be just over $200 for most specialty jewelers. Despite the dominance of diamond sales online, this is below the average ticket for a mass market jeweler of $300 350 and a guild jeweler of $850 900. Even Tiffanys average ticket for online sales is $231. Competition BIDZ currently competes with a variety of online auction jewelry sellers, such as eBay and uBid; online liquidation companies, such as Overstock; and online jewelry retailers, such as Blue Nile. The Company also competes with traditional offline jewelry retail chains, such as Zales, Finlay Fine Jewelry, and Reeds Jewelers, as well as with department and discount and other stores that sell jewelry at wholesale prices, such as Wal Mart, Target, J. C. Penney, and Costco, as well as with QVC and Home Shopping Network.

Key Financial Highlights Net revenue of $131.7 million, up 46% year over year Net income of $5.4 million a 104% increase year over year. The Company has grown revenues at a 78% CAGR over the 2002 2006 period. Q1, 2007 revenue was $44.7 million, up 29% year over year BIDZs average selling price per order for Q1 2007 was $154, up 8% from $142 in Q1 2006, and its average number of items sold per day was up 32% from 7,173 to 9,482. Q1, 2007 net income of $3.4 million represented a 4.3% year over year increase Q1, 2006 had unusually high gross margins hence, year over year EPS growth appears constrained Annual operating margins have trended nicely over the last three years going from 1.2% in 2004 to 4.2% at the end of 2006 BIDZ management has provided guidance that includes sales increases of 29 37% to $170 180 million and pretax income of $13 14 million for the year, 91 105% above 2006\s $6.8 million before special items. Company has initiated a $5 million buyback or 3% of its total shares outstanding Significant insider ownership with management owning around 55% of the shares outstanding on a fully diluted basis.
